Alapan Bandyopadhyay (born in 1967) is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer, a famous personality and a government officer from Kolkata, West Bengal. He serves the position of the home secretary of West Bengal. Before becoming the home secretary, he was working as the in-charge of sports management and youth commission.
He was appointed as the state home minister of West Bengal on 29 May 2019 by the Chief Minister (CM) of West Bengal “Mamata Banerjee”.
On 17 March 2020, Alapan Bandyopadhyay and his wife Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee went to isolation because of infection that they caught after their meet with a COVID-19 patient’s mother.
